Please read the letter

It's funny how much our ideas of what's important are formed in childhood: nothing I've ever published has ever felt as "real" or legitimate as having a letter published in The Globe and Mail -- I guess because that's the only context in which most of the people I know will ever read something I write, unless I actually give them a copy.
