Campbell soup

Someone thinks I should get a Campbell award, or at least be nominated. (I think this is my last year of eligibility, by the way. I'm just sayin'.)

First look at Another Country

An enterprising reviewer at the Australian SF site AsIf has reviewed the PDF version of the April/May issue of Asimov's, judging "Another Country" (along with Kathleen Ann Goonan's "Memory Dog") to be the issue's highlights. You can read the whole review here.

Most likely to succeed (without really trying)

It's official: I'm an "up-and-coming talent" -- at least, Asimov's thinks so . I actually felt like one when I got my copy of Space and Time #102, the first magazine to cover feature me (except On Spec, which puts every contributor's name on the cover.) The notion that somebody thinks my name might help sell a magazine is bizarre, but definitely flattering. The S&T story is also one of the first of mine to be illustrated, and the accompanying picture is absolutely gorgeous.

Genius loci

I'm very pleased to announce that "Public Safety" has been named in the Locus 2007 Recommended Reading list. It's an amazing honour to be listed in the company of people like Gene Wolfe, Michael Swanwick and Neil Gaiman. You can see the whole list here.
