I read yesterday that John M. Ford died on the weekend. For thsoe who don't know his work, Ford was (in my opinion, and that of many others) one of the very best writers working in any genre of any medium, never mind SF and F, as well as a writer with an imagination so restless it made Marco Polo look like a couch potato. For my part, particularly, if there was a writer I want to be, it was him; every now and then, when I can't remember just what it is I'm trying to do when I write, I go back and re-read "Walkaway Clause." And cry.
A few more tears, now.

Plagues and other good news
Just found out that my story "Jump, Frog!" will be published in the new anthology Ten Plagues from Saltboy Bookmakers. This is one of those stories that I thought was too weird to ever sell, so I'm glad it's found a home. It's also nice to be in this particular antho because my sale to their first one, Time for Bedlam, was my first sale after a very long dry spell, and they did a nice job of getting it in front of the right eyeballs (one of the stories in Bedlam even got an honourable mention in Year's Best Fantasy and Horror, though alas not mine).
